About this site
Before the Internet came to everyone's home, the best way to
see short films was at a film festival or art house.

This is still a good way to see short films, but if you want to
see these movies and don't live in or near a festival city we've
created Shorts on the Tube as the Internet's search engine for
short films.

You can find films two ways:

1. Use the directory
2. Use the site's search engine

If you enjoy watching the short films, please spread the word.
New films are added weekly but if you have suggestions, please
let us know.

What is a short film?

Here's what we know:

Film Industry.

• We know that in North America a short film generally refers
to films between 20 and 40 minutes. However, a short film can
be a short as one minute.

• We know short films often focus on topics that commercial films tend to avoid.

In the early 1900's most American feature films shown in
theaters was preceded by one or more short films.
